Meet the Broom Closet Witches

The Broom Closet Witches first met way back in the 1990's when they were teenagers, hanging around on the beach and going to parties with a group of mutual friends. They both were beginning their own witchcraft journey at this time, but never dared mention it. Little did they know that over two decades later their paths would cross once more, and this time in a much more magical, purposeful way!

They reconnected via social media over a love of tarot and The Broom Closet Witch's curiosity around whether or not she actually was a witch! (Spoiler... she is!) There was no doubt from either of the friends that The Broom Closet Witch Club should be created, and should be a supportive, empowering place to make space for curiosity and help people on their witchcraft journey.

Meet Hepzibah

Back in the late 90s somebody I knew was bought a book of spells for their birthday. It was called "Enchanted " by Titania Hardie and it was in a beautiful pale green flocked cover which was highly unusual and incredibly tactile. As soon as I started reading the first page I felt "something."

I felt like I was coming home but going on an adventure at the same time. Her spells were so well written and photographed that I defy anyone to read it and not feel a primal stirring of witchyness!.

The thought that I could protect myself and influence the world by using magic was intoxicating.  And although its taken me nearly 30 years to be able to say "I'm a Witch " out loud I'm very happy to be one.

Like Hepzibah, and many others I’m sure, I was very drawn to all things witchy as a teenager, as well as being fascinated by the supernatural as a child.

I would often be found in magical shops, looking at books and crystals and anything that piqued my curiosity. I loved trips to Tintagel in Cornwall and of course Glastonbury Tor and festival. I had shelves full of spell books and tarot cards and a strong connection to nature and wanting to help people on a healing journey.

But life moved on and got all grown up and sensible. The spell books were packed away in the attic and replaced with parenting books and baby name books, and this is a part of my life which I have loved and enjoyed.

Through creating a home and nurturing my family, I developed a love of plants and gardening, and that has been my sanity for a long time now. But more recently I have started to reconnect deeply with the spiritual world, rekindling that inner wisdom and knowing that I am indeed a witch.
